The practice of swaddling goes back nearly as far as human history, itself. The oldest archaeological evidence of mothers swaddling their babies begins in 4000 B.C. with the migrating peoples of ancient central Asia. The ancient Greeks and Romans swaddled. There are even biblical references to the practice.

Swaddlings ability to soothe and calm babies has been known to mothers around the world for countless generations. So when it came time to decide what fabric we would use in our products and, especially, in our swaddles we turned to the traditional practices of motherhood -- practices that transcend all boundaries of time and culture -- and chose muslin. Lay the swaddle in a diamond shape and fold the top corner down to form a triangle. Place your baby in the center of the folded area with their head just above the fold of the swaddle. Ensure that your babys shoulders are still below the fold.

Place your babys right arm slightly bent at the elbow flat against their body. Take the left side of the swaddle and bring it across your babys chest. Ensure their arm is securely under the fabric. Tuck the edge of the swaddle under their body to ensure a secure swaddle.

Fold the bottom of the swaddle up and over your babys feet.

Finally, place your babys left arm slightly bent at the elbow against their body, take the right side of the swaddle and bring it across your babys chest. Tuck the excess fabric underneath your baby to secure the swaddle.
